Bread omelette

The bread omelette is a truly original and frankly much better recycling idea than you might think. This is an absolutely perfect recipe for when you forgot to go shopping, go to the kitchen and find only eggs, old bread and little else. You just have to sponge the bread with milk (but if you want the water is okay, if there is not even that left) and prepare an omelette! If you want you can also elaborate variations, adding some leftover cheese or that half onion that has been watching you for the last few days and that will soon begin to mold;) In short, a few simple ingredients and a very simple idea but usually at the table everyone likes it … I’ll do it again for sure 🙂

  • Doses for 4 people:
  • 150 gr of bread
  • 100 ml of milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of grated parmesan
  • basil
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 knob of butter
  • salt
  • pepper
(100 ml = 3.4 fluid oz. – 100 grams = 3.5 ounces – 1 liter = 34 fluid oz. – 1 kilogram = 2.205 pounds – 100C° 212F° – 180C° 356F°)
  • preparation: 15 min
  • cooking: 15 min
  • total: 30 min + 15 minutes of rest

Method

How to make bread omelette

Leave the bread to soak in milk for at least 15 minutes.
Break the eggs in a bowl and beat them with salt and pepper, then add parmesan, squeezed bread and chopped basil.

Stir until all the ingredients are mixed.

Heat the oil and butter in a non-stick pan, then add the mixture and cook over medium-low heat until the eggs are cured, then turn the omelette with a spatula and quickly brown the second side on a higher flame.

The bread omelette is ready: you can serve it hot, warm or even cold.
